Relational & Accountable Teaching:
Teaching as community, teaching as relationship
I approach teaching as a relational and accountable practice rooted in reciprocity, collective knowledge creation, and community responsibility. My classrooms are not just spaces of learning but also of transformation, where students and educators work together to embody justice, healing, and liberation.
Courses I design, such as Liberation Psychology, Community Justice: Restorative and Transformative Justice, and Community-Based Research for Climate Resilience , invite students to connect theory with lived experience, research with practice, and scholarship with community action.
Relational teaching also means practicing accountability by honoring students’ voices, histories, and ancestral knowledges while creating structures of care and support. I am committed to cultivating learning environments that disrupt hierarchies and foster shared leadership.
